What is accreditation?

Accreditation is a proven method to measure, improve and benchmark performance over time to advance quality. It is a demonstration to your clients, colleagues and the wider community of your practice's commitment to safe, high quality health care.

Who sets the standards?

The standards are owned and developed by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA). Quality in Practice Pty Ltd (QIP) has been exclusively appointed by the APA to provide accreditation services for physiotherapy practices in Australia.

Accreditation can help build a better, more efficient practice, and is a demonstration of your practice's commitment to the provision of high quality and safe health care. Accreditation can build a more robust business, with systems in place to deal with competitive pressures, staff turnover and the dynamic Australian primary health care market.

Pricing for physiotherapy accreditation

Physiotherapy practice accreditation is priced at $695 per EFT (incl GST). Accreditation fees are capped at 10 EFT, or a maximum of $6,950 for practices over 10 EFT. The registration fee is $550 per practice.

What is involved in accreditation with QIP?

Accreditation with QIP involves practices working online to complete their self assessment using AccreditationPro – the first electronic self assessment system for physiotherapy practices. AccreditationPro is exclusive to QIP and automates the previously manual process of self assessment, saving time and reducing paperwork.

It uses a familiar 'Windows' style format; clearly displays each standard along with explanatory information; links to extensive online resources and templates; and automatically generates action plans to help you track your practice's progress.
