Practices accredited by AGPAL or Quality in Practice (QIP) meet a set of standards to ensure safe high quality care is delivered to patients. These accreditation standards focus on a range of areas including:
Who sets the standards?
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) develops and owns the accreditation standards for Australian general practices. The Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) develops and owns the accreditation standards applicable to physiotherapy practices. In the case of diagnostic imaging practices, the accreditation standards have been developed by the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA).
AGPAL and QIP do not develop accreditation standards. However, as part of our commitment to quality, we take an active role in helping to educate practices about safety and quality improvement and the requirments of the standards applicable to their profession.
AGPAL and QIP's processes are designed to ensure practices can interpret and understand the standards relevant to them, identify areas within the standards they are not currently meeting and access support to make improvements.
Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme - Stage II Standards
Practices with diagnostic imaging services are required to apply for accreditation under DoHA's Diagnostic Imaging Practice Accreditation Standards 2nd edition. These consist of 3 Entry Level standards (only applicable to non-radiology practices) and 15 Full Suite standards. Click here to view the Standards.
