Medicare Locals Accreditation Scheme
A key component of the Australian Government’s National health reform was the establishment of a nation-wide network of Medicare Locals. Medicare Locals were recently required to register with an accreditation agency for participation in the Medicare Locals Accreditation Scheme.
Proudly accrediting Medicare Locals
A large number of Medicare Locals choose Quality Innovation Performance (QIP). QIP is experienced in the provision of accreditation services to organisations in the primary and secondary health and community service sectors – key Medicare Local stakeholders.
QIP has worked to understand the strategic objectives of Medicare Locals and support them on their accreditation journey to ensure a positive experience.
Many QIP clients are now working towards accreditation against the Medicare Locals Accreditation Standards.Clients are supported through accreditation with a streamlined and web-based approach, which reduces the time and effort required to achieve accreditation and access to client service support, training and resources.
Development of the Medicare Locals Standards
QIP, formerly Quality in Practice, was part of the consortium awarded the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing tender to develop accreditation standards for Medicare Locals and to develop appropriate support and training materials for Medicare Locals and accreditation providers.
The consortium comprising The Quality Improvement Council (QIC), Quality Improvement and Community Services Accreditation (QICSA) and Quality Management Services (QMS). These organisations have now merged to form Quality Innovation Performance.
