AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 Standards are owned by the International Organization for Standardization. The widely known Standards are internationally accepted and enable organisations to assess against all elements that should exist in a sound quality management system.
ISO 9001 can be applied to any quality management system, regardless of size, where an organisation:
- Needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and
- Aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Organisations are assessed by both a desktop audit to confirm accreditation readiness and on-site visit for ISO 9001 accreditation. Once an organisation has met all Standards, accreditation is valid for three years. Organisations are reviewed by surveillance audits every six to twelve months after accreditation.
