New gap analysis tool for reprocessing reusable medical equipment

To support the implementation of the updated national standard AS 5369:2023, the Commission has released a Gap Analysis Tool designed to help health service organisations assess their compliance with reprocessing requirements for reusable medical equipment.

While use of the tool is optional, it provides valuable guidance for evaluating current practices, identifying areas for improvement, and developing quality improvement plans. It is intended for staff involved in the use, reprocessing, or oversight of reusable devices, and is not suitable for single-use items. The tool supports alignment with Actions 3.17a and 3.13a of the NSQHS Standards and Primary and Community Healthcare Standards.
