Integrated Health and Aged Care Services (IHACS) Module
The Integrated Health and Aged Care Services (IHACS) Module is used alongside the NSQHS Standards to support providers in the Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) Program. It has been specifically developed for organisations delivering integrated health and aged care services, although its use is currently restricted to facilities under the MPS Program. The IHACS Module enables a streamlined accreditation process against both the NSQHS and Aged Care Quality (ACQ) Standards, allowing eligible providers to undergo a single assessment that meets both sets of requirements.
From 1 November 2025, the IHACS Module will replace the older MPS Aged Care Module, aligning accreditation with the new and strengthened ACQ Standards introduced under the Aged Care Act 2024. It consolidates the aged care quality elements not addressed by the NSQHS Standards into 14 module items, reflecting rigorous expectations for safe, high-quality aged care services.
Providers that meet the NSQHS Standards and the IHACS Module are considered to have met ACQ Standards for aged care registration, significantly reducing duplication and administrative burden. Supporting resources, including a detailed user guide and monitoring tool, are available on the Commission’s website to help providers implement the IHACS Module.
