Benefits of accreditation

Private Dental Practice Accreditation reassures consumers that dental practices are adhering to industry regulations and guidelines. Displaying the achievement of accreditation supports this, showcasing a practice's commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and quality care.

Accredited dental practices establish a competitive advantage over non-accredited dental practices by promoting the quality and safety of services to patients and the local community.

The process of undergoing accreditation offers a large range of professional development opportunities for practice staff. Expanding knowledge and skills in policy & procedure development, risk management, staff culture, monitoring, quality improvement, and improved service and care delivery.

To ensure Private Dental Practice Accreditation is reflective of and responsive to the needs of the dental profession, the Australian Dental Association (ADA) has worked collaboratively and exclusively with QIP to develop the Private Dental Practice Accreditation Program (the program).

QIP is approved by the Commission as an accrediting agency under the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation (AHSSQA) Scheme. QIP and the ADA are dedicated to delivering an accreditation program that supports private dental practices to continually improve while reassuring patients of their commitment to safety and quality.

The program is responsive to the needs and expectations of the dental profession and provides a sound evidence-based approach to accreditation within the NSQHS Standards (first edition) for private dental practices. The program focuses on six standards within the first edition applicable to dental practices and services.
