Webinar: what to expect during an NDIS verification audit

Normally, our all-inclusive rate to carry out a verification audit is $1025, plus GST. We add a modest $50 per worker for providers who have more than five workers.
As you are only required to be audited every three years – the annual cost is around $300.

Yes, you can. The verification audit does not require any interviews from a service delivery perspective. The verification audit is a desktop review of the documentation you provided the NDIS Commission during your online application.

The Commission has indicated that it may look to allow verification audits for companies that deliver low-risk services. However, it is yet to be implemented.

The certification audit is a two-step process. It involves a stage one audit which is a desktop review and following this (within 3 months usually) is a stage to audit, which is an onsite audit.

Yes, you will be allocated a QIP Client Liaison Officer once you have signed a contract with QIP to support your NDIS audit process.

You will need to provide this information to the auditor by uploading certificates/checks as this is a desktop audit. It is then best practice to keep these on your workers’ files.

The cost of the audit is based on the type of audit required, not on the registration groups you provide.

The Commission dictates which type of audit you will need to complete depending on the size and complexity of your organisation and the types of services and supports you offer – either verification or certification.

Yes, you will still need to provide this documentation.

Yes, you do. And note, that the worker screening applies to all ‘workers’ – volunteers as well as paid employees.

We work with you to find suitable dates for your certification audit.

Note, that once you have scheduled your stage one audit (the desktop review), the stage two audit occurs within three months, which allows you time to address any non-conformities.

These time frames are very much up to your organisation and how prepared you are.

On completion of the stage two audit, QIP’s auditor will provide you with a draft of the report we prepare for the NDIS Commission to allow you time to review and provide feedback.

For a certification audit, the report must be finalised and submitted to the NDIS Commission within 28 calendar days.

Once both audits have been completed, the report is finalised and submitted to the NDIS Commission with 28 calendar days, for a certification audit (14 days for verification).

The final decision to award certification is the NDIS Commission’s responsibility. The NDIS Commission advise that some applications take longer to process than others and depends on various factors, including the size and scale of your organisation, as well as the complexity and range of the supports and services you deliver.

Successful applicants will receive a certificate of registration from the NDIS Commission.
